ASUU's chairman, Dr Theopholius Daniel has threatened that the school will be shut down if the management of the institution refuses to meet their demands.
He said this in keffi that the floor is still open for negotiation for amicable ways to address their grievances.
This is confirming rumours making the round that the local chapter of ASUU has conclude plan to embark on an indefinite strike action on February 14.
The students were expected to be writing their first semester examination for the 2015/2016 academic year.
The ASUU chairman said going on strike will definitely have drastic effect on academic and economic development of the school. But if he emphasized that they will be left with no option to embrk on the strike if nothing was done to avoid it
He mentioned non-implementation of promotion, dilapidated state of the university law faulty, appointment irregularities, lack of discipline, high tax deduction on Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), ambiguity in the university guideline as some of the issues yet to be addressed by the university and the statement government.
Dr. Theopholius explained that some of those issues have been lingered from 2009, after the union's six months prolong strike over funding of university and basic numeration of lecturers, "and since then, the state government has refuse to honour the agreement made with the union".
Dr. Lagi said, in a bid to avert the looming strike action, the local chapter of the union took the matter to the zonal and national body of ASUU who waded into the matter to no avail, adding that, anytime the issue came up, the university management keep saying there was no money to pay backlog of arrears.
