The Division of The
Nigerian Police, Nassarawa Branch arrested members of robbery gang, who
collects valuables of hotel guest on their way into the hotel building.
The Division
spokesman, ASP ismaila Numan, said that the suspected members of the gang
raided three different hotels in the same area btw Jan 22 and Jan 29.
Numan explained that on Jan. 22, between the hours of 4.00a.m and 6.00a.m, two hotels reported robberies on their premises to the Masaka Divisional Station.
The reports said the hoodlums went away with a Toyota van, over N480,000 cash, among other valuables, Numan said.
He said that another robbery incident on Jan. 29 in another hotel in the area left some guests with various degrees of injury.
Numan said that the police, acting on intelligence report on Jan. 29, arrested a 23-year-old man from Jos, and his girlfriend, who were lodging in one of the hotels.
He said the police recovered a locally fabricated pistol and N30,000 from the suspects’ hotel room.
Numan said the arrest of the suspects led to the arrests of another man from Jos, who claimed to be a military deserter.
He said both suspects had confessed to the crime having been identified by the victims.
