Mrs Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US Assistant Secretary For Africa Affairs, disclosed that about 100,000 Nigerians are currently living outside Nigeria as Refugees in neighbouring countries.
She made this known to journalist across Africa in a tele-press conference yesterday disclosing that Boko Haram had forced over 1 million Nigerains out of their homes, stressing that the displaced persons had serious concerns that urgently needed to addressed.
The U.S envoy also stated that there are multifaced effort to deal with the sucurity issues as well as dealing with the root causes. She further reiterates that the U.S has been working with the providing support for government in the region through the multinational task force.
We are working with the government to look at broad economic development in the regions affected by boko haram by encouraging businesses to invest in those areas.
